Interview with Mary Kay Ash concerning her experiences in the cosmetics industry. It includes early sales experience and its impact upon future business philosophy, methods, and success of Mary Kay Cosmetics. It discusses her planning prior to launching the company, problems and solutions in the beginning, as well as early legal problems with competitors. Ash explains her concern for women's opportunities, female orientation of the company, development and growth of sales, the role of her children in the company, her methods of recruiting, training, and attitude building, as well as marketing and sales techniques, incentive plans, sales territories, pricing, party plan, and employee promotions.She shares her views on successful managerial traits, motivational differences between men and women, the application of the Golden Rule towards employees and customers, and attitudes and philosophy toward employee relations. She discusses the use of intuition in decision making and the reasons for the growth of Mary Kay Cosmetics.
